A Moveable Feast Bondi Beach

Last night, Bondi Beach turned into a sea of pastel with the inaugural event, A Moveable Feast, the first in a new series of experiences taking Sydney-siders on seasonal dining journeys throughout the year.

The event by Diner en Blanc Sydney event director, Antoine Bessis was a “pastel picnic”, channelling the Riviera with guests dressed in pastel beach chic celebrating wth food, champagne and wine along with live entertainment.

Magnums of Piper-Heidsieck Champagne were shared on arrival, as well as Magnums of AIX Provence Rose with additional wine bars at the event. Guests were seated in tables of 30, on a styled table on the sands of Bondi Beach to enjoy a picnic hamper for two, with a menu designed by Chef Lauren Murdoch.

The gourmet picnic hamper included pickled Alaskan crab salad with potato, pea, celery heart and tarragon; duck rillettes with cornichons and brioche; poached chicken with roasted eggplant, du puy lentils, eggplant caviar, sesame yoghurt; cardamon scented almond cream with champagne strawberries and pistachio baklava and pastel meringue kisses.

Australian artist Jake Meadows led the evening’s entertainment with  upcoming single Echo of Tomorrow (feat. Daniel Johns) live at the event with the changing colours of the ocean as backdrop.

The event was a farewell to Sydney summer and culminated in guests dancing barefoot under the moonlight.

A Moveable Feast at Bondi Beach was held on Saturday 12 March 2016. The next event will be a large scale Winter Wonderland indoor extravaganza, followed by a Halloween dinner party decked out in the woods of Centennial Park.
