Variety of Chefs Gala Dinner Returns for 2017

The Variety of Chefs Gala Dinner is back for 2017, a charity dinner featuring five of Sydney’s best chefs to raise funds for Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The event will be held at The Star on Saturday 27 May 2017 with more than 400 guests expected. The evening will be hosted by Sylvia Jefferies and Tim Ross with entertainment by Australian rock icon, James Reyne.

Here’s a sneak peek at the delicious menu that will be served on the night.

Canapés – Salmon Sashimi with pickled wasabi salsa, Asparagus tempura with edamame dip, Tempura Prawn Sushi Roll by chef Brian Logan from Sokyo paired with Richland Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir from Calabria Family Wines.

Alternate Entrée: Risotto with saffron, scampi and zucchini flowers by Chef Gabriele Taddeucci from Balla paired with Richland Chardonnay from Calabria Wines.

Alternate Entrée: Seared yellow fun tuna, salad of Queensland spanner crab, young coconut and Vietnamese dressing by Chef Justin North from Hotel Centennial paired with Richland Pinot Grigio from Calabria Family Wines.

Fillet grass fed Angus, smoked potato, broccolini, charred onion, iberico crumbs and sticky shallots sauce by Chef Dany Karam of Black paired with Richland Cabernet Sauvignon from Calabria Family Wines.

Bittersweet dark couverture cream, bergamot sorbet, coconut caviar with roasted almonds by chef Buddika Gunawardana of The Star paired with Three Bridges Botrytis Semillon from Calabria Family Wines.

Tickets to the Variety of Chefs Gala Dinner cost $300 each with proceeds going to Variety – the Children’s Charity which empowers Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn. Variety supports over 1,200 families in need every month through the provision of vital equipment and services.
