Sydney Craft Beer Week (SCBW) has launched its program for 2016 with more than 100 events at over 75 different venues around Sydney. Running from Friday 21 to Sunday 30 October 2016, the event is a celebration of craft brews with a host of activities set to appeal to anyone from beginner to enthusiast.

What started six years ago as a passion project for SCBW Director Joel Connolly is now a major celebration uniting occasional drinkers and die hard craft beer fans.

The programme is brimming with events and activities and we’ve put together our top 10 picks for Sydney Craft Beer Week 2016.

1. Opening Gala Night(s)

Kick off the festival at the Opening Gala Night held at the Giant Dwarf Theatre in Redfern. This year, the event will run two sessions across two days where you can sample a showcase of handpicked beers and brewers who will be featured during the Festival.

2. Pint of Origin

Head over to The Crafty Pint for the Pint of Origin™ where six pubs across Sydney turn their taps over to beers and brewers from the six Aussie states to give small breweries a chance to showcase their brews.

3. Hair of the Dog Breakfast at the Rocks Brewing

Chances are you’ll be needing hair of the dog so why not enjoy six indulgent courses paired with six of the best beers at Rocks Brewing.

4. Beer through the Ages: A Beer History Experience

Learn all bout the evolution of beer and take a drinkable journey through time. Learn about the migration of beer from Mesopotamia to Egypt, Scandinavia and beyond, all while enjoying five historical styles of beer from different periods of time.

Be part of the inaugural Sydney Craft Beer Awards, a celebration of best of beers as well as those behind the scenes of the craft beer scene in Sydney.

Meat, Beer Axe is back where Willie the Boatman is teaming up with Maniax axe throwing centre and the juicy lads of Bovine and Swine to present another night of axe throwing, beer drinking and meat eating fun.

Start the day smashing burgers and brews before taking to the greens for a nine-hole golf tournament with a beer for each ball sunk.

8. Frankie’s Pizza Collaboration Coup
