Small bar Since I Left You has unveiled a new five storey high mural by global street artist Fintan Magee.
The Torch Carrier Mural
Entitled The Torch Carrier, the 18 metres tall mural overlooks the rear courtyard of the intimate Sydney CBD bar. The artwork took five days and 50 litres of house paint to
create. The artwork depicts our role in climate change symbolising the link between global warming and the increase in bushfires in Australia.
The event also launched a summer cocktail list and kicked off the SILY Season marked by the start of the SILY Sessions with live music in the inviting courtyard.
The Torch Carrier Cocktail
Paying homage to the mural, The Torch Carrier ($18) is the ideal sundowner, a mix of Aged Pisco, Apricot Brandy and Agave Syrup finished with a dash of bitters. The leaves are slightly torched and add beautiful aromatics to every sip.
Nothing but the Spritz
Nothing but the Spritz ($18) is another sessionable drink made with Four Pillars Gin, Aperol and Agave syrup, shaken and topped with sparkling wine. It’s light and makes for easy sipping early in the evening.
Ricky Rozay
Ricky Rozay ($16) is floral and feminine, and a little on the sweeter end of palate and brings an elegant mix of Massenez Cranberry and Rosé D’Anjou topped with sparkling wine.
Coyote
The Coyote ($20) ups the ante with Don Julio Reposado tequila, Chamberyzette Dry Strawberry Vermouth and 2 drops of balsamic. The drink is perfectly balanced with agave notes, vermouth and a hint of sweetness.
Keith Bourbon
Bourbon lovers would enjoy Keith Bourbon ($18) made with Rare Breed Wild Turkey, Massenez Cranberry, shaken with lemon and maple syrup. There is sweetness on the palate but it does not overpower the flavour of the bourbon.
The Flight Path
The Flight Path ($18) is a take on the Aviation cocktail made with Aviation Gin, Luxardo Maraschino and Liqueur de Violettes shaken with a little lemon.
A Single Plum, Floating in Perfume, Served in a Man’s Hat
A name like A Single Plum, Floating in Perfume, Served in a Man’s Hat ($20) sets high expectations and it more than delivers. Hakushu Whiskey is combined with Choya Ume Wine and Canton Ginger Cognac. If you like whisky and you like your cocktails strong and boozy, this is the drink to have last.
Sicario
Alternatively, Sicario ($20) is a true sipper. Dictador 12 yo rum is stirred with Incendio Chilli Chocolate Liqueur, Amaretto and Gran Bitter. Take a sip of the drink, a little bite of the chocolate then another sip for a flavour sensation from the interplay of rum, chilli and chocolate.
You wouldn’t go hungry at Since I Left You with their rotating list of gourmet toasties, bruschettas and crostini platters. Don’t miss out on the vodka and thyme cured scotch fillet with horseradish cream, pickled octopus, nduja, and piquillo peppers and pulled pork toastie with spicy slaw.
