JANUS Kings Cross launched in style to the rhythms of a Brazilian band beside the red carpet and a striking JANUS ice sculpture.
Occupying the site that was Concrete Blonde, JANUS Kings Cross has retained the stylish décor that is the design of Michael McCann s with a rustic industrial look, a vertical fireplace, an open plan kitchen rotisserie and an elegant dining space with a cellar and a long bar.
Food was plentiful with an array of delicious antipasti of Italian cheeses and cured meats, arancini balls, prawns with orange foam, mini burgers, a suckling roast pig from the rotisserie, pork belly and beef Picanha.
Special guest MC Jecinta Campbell hosted the launch party and cut the cake with owner George Michael and Executive Chef Marcello Guzzo who brings to the venue an Italian style rustic cuisine with a Brazilian touch. Brazilian dancers performed in front of guests inviting them to join them in the dance.
A bakery/café next to the restaurant offers all day dining with breakfast, lunch, coffee and house-made pastries.
JANUS is open Wednesdays to Sundays from 6pm till late. The bakery is open daily from 7 am till 4 pm with breakfast all day on the weekend.
The JANUS launch was held on Wednesday 15 May 2013. Other JANUS venues include 1 Bligh Street and Darling Quarter both located within the CBD.
