Booza, Salt Meats Cheese, Sami’s Kitchen & More Taste of Sydney Exhibitors 2013

Aside from tasting dishes from some of the best Sydney restaurants and keeping hydrated at the various bars at Taste of Sydney, there were other exhibitors to visit and discover their offerings.

Salt Meats Cheese, Alexandria’s foodie hotspot which opened to the public in June 2012, showcased a delicious selection of cheeses, cured meats and condiments.

Think buffalo mozzarella, truffle salami, jamon Serrano and Carasau, thin bread from Sardinia with a glass of wine to enjoy at Taste of Sydney.

A visit to the Salt Meats Cheese store is a must where they launched a meat room in December 2012 with a Himalayan pink salt bar. Delizioso!

Huon Aquaculture at Tasmanian Pavillion

The Tasmanian Pavilion was a foodie’s haven with offerings of wine, whisky, beer and seafood among other produce.

Whether it’s pan frying it and finishing it with za’atar spice mix from Sami’s Kitchen, or crumbling the hot smoked salmon over pasta with heirloom tomatoes, the fish is delicious and retains its fresh flavour.

Pounding mastic ice cream

Booza pops, specifically prepared for Taste of Sydney were a big hit at the Booza stall serving stretchy mastic ice cream from the Levant.

Each flavour dipped in premium Zokoko chocolate was a taste sensation. A selection of Pistachio and chocolate, Turkish delight chocolate and coconut, Chocolate and cinnamon with hazelnut and sweet sesame Halawa with chocolate and roasted pistachios made it difficult to choose.

Gilbert & Tedy from Booza

For the good news, the team behind Booza are planning to make these Mastic Ice Cream Pops available soon.

Malaysia Kitchen

Malaysia Kitchen kicked off on opening night with colourful dancers and a cooking demonstration by Poh Ling Yeow.

Poh demonstrated how simple it is to cook Malaysian fare at home by preparing Hokkien noodles.

Sami’s Kitchen

At Sami’s Kitchen, you followed your senses as the aroma of the spices lured you to their popular stand.

Offering a range of premium spice blends, the company was founded 3.5 years ago by brothers Sami and Hayssam Bejjani. Their ethos is to take the essence and flavour of Middle-Eastern spices and make it easy for people to use at home.

Amina Elshafei was at the stand offering tastings of her special spice mix for falafel, all ready to go. All you need is to shape it, fry it and enjoy.

Simon Johnson

It was Simon Johnson’s first venture at Taste of Sydney and the stand proved very popular.

The renowned food purveyor offered tasting of Aphrodite Haloumi cheese from Cyprus, made of sheep and goats milk. Other cheeses and condiments were available for sale as well as the delectable Venchi chocolate Easter eggs.
