The Australian Cheese Showcase 2010 took place today at the Rocks in Sydney. A small number of stalls lined up Argyle Street to showcase a range of cheeses from NSW and other Australian states.
Taking part in Crave Sydney Food Festival (SIFF), the event offered a selection of cheeses for tasting as well as olive oils, balsamic vinegars and regional wines.
Cow-bernet Sauvignon (L) and Holey Cow (R) were a highlight of the event. The award-winning Archibull Cows were designed for the District Exhibition competition at the 2010 Royal Easter Show. Made from papier maché, cardboard and fibreglass as well as natural produce, these colourful cows brought a touch of the country to the harbour foreshores.
Arriving around 1 pm and with four hours to go until the event closed, there was very little cheese on show but exhibitors were keen to offer tastings.
Yarra Valley Dairy: Black Savourine, a semi matured goats cheese; Juno a goats milk cheese with Juniper berries, olive and garlic
Milawa Cheese Company Tastings – Milawa Blue (L), Milawa Chevre (M), Milawa Tomme (R)
Pukara Estate olive oils and balsamic vinegars: including wasabi oil, pomegranate balsamic vinegar and a white wine liqueur vinegar

With the event being listed in the Crave Sydney Food Festival, we expected more than a handful of cheese stalls.

Disappointing that there were so few on offer but looks yummy anyway. Love those cows!!!
The cheeses that were on offer were rather good. I wish there was more to try!

well, shame there weren’t more cheeses, but I like the selection of oils and vinagers – the wasabi one sounds good!
The range of oils from Pukara Estate was rather impressive, and the wasabi oil had a nice kick to it!
