The Australasian Whisky Awards for 2013 were held in conjunction with the Whisky Show and I was chosen to be one of four independent judges.
Twenty eight entries were blind-tasted and given a score and the winners were announced at the show which is run by World of Whisky of Double Bay, Australia’s first store dedicated to whisky.
Whisky Vials
In the Single Malt category, newcomer Starward from Melbourne won first prize, followed by Overeem Port Cask Matured Single Malt in second place and Lark Single Cask Malt (Cask 326 Port) in third place.
In the Cask Strength category, Timboon Port Cask Matured won first place followed by Limeburners Director’s Cut M96 in the second spot and Lark Whisky #395 Port Cask Matured in third.
Timboon Port Cask Matured was the overall winner.
The Australasian Whisky Awards is an annual competition aimed at promoting the quality whisky being produced in Australia and New Zealand’s growing industry.
