Hyde Park played host to the 21st Sydney Food and Wine Fair 2011, a fund raiser event by the AIDS Trust of Australia. While the number of stalls were down on the previous year, those that participated were enjoying themselves. There were food and wine stalls from Restaurant Atelier, Brasserie Bread, Jimmy Liks, Lisa McGuigan, Giesen and more who generously donated time to support the good work of the Trust.

A sheet of 5 coupons at $20 could get you a main meal and a water/soft drink. Although the event ran from 12pm to 5pm, the Food was served between 11:30-2:30pm while entertainment, which included Café of The Gate of Salvation, continued until 5pm. A few stalls sold out fast.

Disappointing that it was a small turnout and poor effort by some of the bigger names. It lacked ambience this year, which is a shame.
I was surprised how some had run out of food so early. Also, there were no queues to get tickets like last year. Hopefully it will be bigger next year.
what was the jimmy liks dish like? looks pretty yummy.
Fresh flavours and moreish!
Hmmmm… the Macaron from Guillaume at Bennelong and the two ice cream petits fours look delicious. I just can’t imagine how sweet sesame halwa ice cream tastes like…
The halwa was very sweet. It’s an acquired taste. Mr G didn’t like it but I’m familiar with the flavour and I enjoyed it. You can only have it in a small quantity.
That confit pork belly looks awesome 🙂
It tasted great! Almost went back for seconds 🙂
