Since it launched in March 2015, the Archie Rose team have laid down over 300 casks, run over 3,000 distillery tours and launched the world’s first Tailored Spirits range. Accolades have been received locally and internationally, winning Best International Bar at the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards in London and receiving a ‘Master Medal” in the inaugural Distillery Masters Competition.

In his speech, founder Will Edwards thanked the distillery team and bar team and revealed some exciting developments ahead.

The distillery is looking at producing a brand new product and collaborative releases. They plan to expand internationally and to have the bar team show their creative flair with a range of in-house vermouths, bitters, shrubs, berries, pickles and leathers. Archie Rose’s boilermaker list is expanding and the bar team will continue to source rare whiskies and spirits.

A new gin is in planning. “We looking at working on making a gin for us, that the team likes and I’m sure you’ll like it as well,” Edwards revealed. The new Archie Rose gin is likely to have a higher ABV, as well as more juniper and spice.

A new rum is also in development. Production Manager Dave Withers has been studying rum distillation by correspondence and has managed to source top grade of molasses and fresh cane juice from suppliers in Queensland. A limited release of rhum agricole is likely to be available then an Archie Rose Rum.

The distillery team tasted 4 casks of rye and for the first birthday celebration, they decanted two litres out of cask no 2 (ARD-RO2) to toast the occasion. The spirit, which cannot be called whiskey yet is around 60% ABV and has already taken colour and some character from the oak and displays some solid maturation for its young age. Archie Rose Rye is likely to be released in another 18 to 24 months.

Archie Rose first birthday celebrations were held on Thursday 17 March 2016.
