Occupying a prime location on the Western Broadwalk of the Sydney Opera House, the pop-up is part of “Summer at the House” program by The Corner House’s restaurateurs Anthony Kaplan, Brent Mills and Simon Beckingham. Astro turf, pallet seating, fernery, tall palms and recyclable cutlery in terracotta pots give the venue a relaxed garden-like setting with spectacular views of Sydney harbour.

The all-day pop-up starts at 9am with healthy breakfast offerings and morning yoga sessions then moves to the beat of live acoustic music and DJ sets in the afternoon and evening. A Mediterranean rotisserie offers a garden picnic plate with seasonal salads ($10 kids, $16 regular, $25 share) and a rotating menu of delicious porchetta, slow-cooked chickens, lamb, beef and vegetarian options. Other food items include Sydney rock oysters ($20 for half a dozen), tiger prawns ($36) and the Panama House cheeseburger ($10).

The drinks are easily accessible with a list of Cocktails on Tap such as Gin and Tonic ($10 or $36 for 4), Garden Bar Mule ($12 or $40 for 4) or the Pimm’s Cup ($12 or $40 for 4). There’s Peroni beer cider, Shadowfax wines and Veuve Cliquot champagne.

With its waterfront harbour location, a relaxed vibe, chilled tunes and drinks that don’t take too long to make, Garden Bar Pop-Up by the Corner House is the place to be this summer.
