Twelve bartenders competed for the title with media and trade guests packing an eager crowd. Perryn Collier (Alfred & Constance) came in second place with and Nick Selvadurai (Cookie) in the third spot.

Each bartender had to create a classic cocktail using Beefeater Dry Gin then adapt it with a modern twist using Beefeater 24 Gin. The latter uses Japanese Sencha Tea and Chinese green tea in addition to grapefruit peel, Seville orange peel, lemon peel i juniper, coriander seed, liquorice, angelica root, almond and orris root to create an aromatic gin with hints of tannin from the tea. The name refers to the 24 hours during which the botanicals are steeped in the spirit.
