The MYER Spring Summer 2014 Collection launched last night with a spectacular show at Sydney’s Fox Studios supported by Maker’s Mark Bourbon.
Taking inspiration from the dramatic landscapes, rich sandstone ravines and mud flats of the Kimberley Desert, the MYER summer campaign had the show’s set design replicating the colourful landscape of the region with abstract ravines inlayed with richly coloured dust to form a dramatic desert expanse.
Monochrome, metallic, geometric stripes and blocks made their appearance on the runway along with bold and bright coloured florals. Jennifer Hawkins, the face of MYER, stole the show with a long flowing black number by Leona Edmiston. International soccer star and Politix menswear ambassador, Harry Kewell makes his model debut along the 48m long catwalk.
The show was supported by Maker’s Mark with guests enjoying a selection of delicious cocktails pre and post show that carried the theme of the Australian outback . The Burnt Orange Swizzle had a mix of the new Maker’s Mark 46 (officially launching soon) with ginger beer and finished with a bold burnt orange and vanilla. Fresh Native Honey Spiked Sour had Maker’s Mark 46, fresh lemon juice and drizzled with a spiced honey and apple syrup. Rounding off the tasty libations was the delectable Choc ‘o’ Wattle cocktail, with Maker’s Mark 46, wattle seed agave syrup and a dash of chocolate bitters. The cocktails, syrups and base ingredients were bespoke creations for the event by The Drink Cabinet, with Jason Crawley, Dylan Howarth (Maker’s Mark Ambassador) and Mike Enright (The Barber Shop).
Over 500 guests attended the show including a number of Sydney’s fashionable personalities and celebrities including MYER Ambassadors Laura Dundovic and Lauren Phillips and Ita Buttrose.
