Fix Wine Bar & Restaurant is one of Sydney’s premier wine bars located along Elizabeth Street in the CBD. The popular venue is situated between the shopping district and the heart of Sydney’s thriving finance and legal industry.
Owner and sommelier Stuart Knox opened Fix Wine Bar + Restaurant in 2006 with a curated a list with over 250 bottles, and more than 100 by the glass, focusing on small handcrafted – sometimes natural, often unusual – wines from around the globe. His background has seen him work across Sydney restaurants for more than 15 years prior to opening Fix and his collections are known for their balanced mix of eclectic and classic varietals be it an “orange” wine, natural, sustainable or biodynamic wines.
During his 20 years in the wine trade, Stuart has been named the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide Sommelier of the Year 2012, and accepted to become a Len Evans Scholar, of which there are only a dozen are accepted nationally each year. The last few years have seen Stuart being invited to judge a number of well-known Australian wine shows, including the Sydney Royal Wine Show, the Hunter Valley Wine Show, the McLaren Vale Wine Show and the NSW Wine Awards.
In 2006, the premise was to bring to Sydney a casual approach to the enjoyment of wines along with quality dining in a relaxed setting that brings guests back time and time again. Sydney embraced it from the start and thirteen years later, you’ll still find Stuart working the floor most days, eager to share his wine knowledge to point you in the direction of some obscure winery or variety.
