Wayward Brewing Co. in Annandale is a reflection the journeys of its founder Peter Philip, a long term home brewer who enjoyed travelling, especially on beer pilgrimages through Europe. This passion found its way from the home brew into the brewery with Peter and Head Brewer Shaun Blissett bringing together their combined passion for new ideas in taking those well known brews and giving them that something extra.
Heading into The Cellar, you might be wondering how they managed to get hold of your parents’ old furniture as the room is decked out in 70s lounges, couches and chairs. There are wooden barrels that pay homage to the site’s original use as a winery nearly a hundred years ago while the beer keg lights let you know what is happening now and the motorcycle on the wall harks back to those days of travel.
The bar is set with 12 craft beer taps showcases Wayward favourites such as Charmer India Red Ale and Sour Puss Raspberry Berliner Weisse to name two plus also single batch brews that can only be tasted at the brewery as well as a number of taps set aside for other local brewers. You can even take your favourite home in a Growler. With the taps changing regularly, it makes for each visit to be a discovery. Wayward runs tours and tasting sessions on a Saturday and if you are looking for a bite food trucks are there on Friday, Saturday & Sunday and pizza available from the bar.
