The Village Inn is now in residence at what was once Durty Nelly’s pub in Paddington.
The Village Inn
With colonial styling, the new sibling of cocktail lounge The Print Room by Leeroy Petersen is located on the ground floor of the building and is a welcoming space of exposed brick, lighter timbers with a touch of sports den decor.
The Bar
Beer is the go with a sizable range of beers on tap and in the bottle plus a concise wine list to compliment.
Communal Table
There are plenty of options for seating be it for two or groups including spaces at the bar and high tables.
Chanel No. 5
Cocktails are served upstairs at The Print Room with Chanel No. 5 ($18) comprising of gin mixed with coconut, butterscotch, fresh pressed coffee bean and kaffir lime leaf offering depth in both flavour and texture.
Pet-Two-Four
The food menu includes light dishes to start such as the Pet-Two-Four ($18), an alternative to the usual charcuterie plate with ham hock terrine and a very moreish salt duck rillette.
The Heritage
The Heritage ($17) with heirloom tomatoes, creamy burratta cheese and basil oil is light and fresh.
The Nordic
The Nordic ($17) with fresh and firm cured salmon, smoked baby potatoes, dill and pickle salad is a good serve with the smoked baby potatoes working well with the fish.
The Big Bad Wolf
For more substantial fare, there are ‘Burwiches’ and comforting favourites. The Big Bad Wolf ($19) – a breakfast style burwich – comes with smoked ham, pork belly, streaky bacon, fried egg, gruyere cheese served on a milk bun with hand cut fries.
The Koby Burger
The Koby Burger ($19) combines a tasty Angus Beef patty with cheese, cos, smoked tomato relish on a milk bun with hand cut fries.
The Bonnie Lass
It’s not all burwiches and beer with more substantial dishes on offer. The Bonnie Lass ($22) is a tender and moist chicken breast stuffed with parsley and pepper mousse with lemon braised kipflers and green olive jus. The dish is generous in size and makes a filling option for one or to share.
The Glenmore
The Glenmore ($23) is a hearty and flavoursome Guinness braised Lamb shank with white truffle and chive mash served with pickled onion. The tender lamb just falls off the bone and melts in the mouth with flavour.
Spring
From the Garden options comes Spring ($16), a salad of roast pumpkins with pepita seeds, toasted walnut and blue cheese croutons. It’s light with a beautifully soft roast pumpkin.
Rowe
Rowe ($16) contains roasted baby beets with quinoa, watercress, cashews and chives with balsamic dressing and delivers a balanced blend of textures and flavours.
The Village Inn is the kind of modern pub that is inviting and welcoming whether you’re catching up with friends over an ale or having a casual meal for two – a welcome addition to the Paddington intersection.
