The Butler, Applejack Hospitality’s fourth venue opened its doors this week at the site of Mezzaluna, along the trendy Victoria Street in Potts Point. The venue is owned and managed by Hamish Watts and Ben Caroll, the duo behind the popular SoCal Neutral Bay, The Botanist Kirribilli and Bondi Hardware.

The new bar-restaurant honours the historic ‘Butler Restaurant’ that occupied the same site many years ago along with the heritage listed Butlers stairs.
With its unique concept, The Butler has so much to offer with two convivial bars, upstairs and downstairs. Descend the staircase and you’ll fine the stunning restaurant, then onto the large outdoor garden terrace providing a panoramic view of the CBD’s skyline. Lush foliage compliments the sandstone and white walls with a subtle French colonial feel.
Applejack Hospitality Group Executive Chef James Privett has created a menu especially for the night to showcase a selection of dishes such as, crisp shiitake mushrooms and spiced tomato, Lyonnaise pork sausage rolls, rum and pineapple salsa, crabmeat and speck croquettes, crepe, chive crème fraiche and salmon roe, classic beef tartare cones, beef spiced pork sliders with creole mayo and prawn and pea risotto.
Two cocktails welcomed guests on arrival, Butler Side Car – Apricot infused Hine Cognac, Cointreau, lemon and orgeat with a roasted almond sugar rim and La Mule – Vodka with St Germaine Elderflower Liqueur, lime, angostura bitters, fresh basil and house made finger beer. A selection of beers, bubbles, red and white wines were served all night.
The Butler atmosphere is relaxed and casual, with an emphasis on sharp service where everyone can enjoy delicious food and a stylish drink in a unique Sydney setting.
