The Balvenie’s DCS Compendium with Malt Master David Stewart

The Balvenie’s Malt Master, David Stewart is visiting Australia in July to celebrate the launch of The Balvenie’s DCS Compendium.

David Stewart, who began work at The Balvenie distillery in 1962 at the age of 17, is the world’s longest-serving Malt Master. He was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his 54 years of service in the Scotch whisky industry earlier in the year and presented to him at a ceremony today.

His week-long tour in Australia begins on Friday 15th July and he will be conducting a series of education sessions for trade and consumers about The Balvenie range.

The DCS Compendium consists of 25 extremely rare single cask bottlings and an accompanying book written by Dr Sam Simmons, The Balvenie Global Ambassador. The collection which will see 25 whiskies (5 chapters) released over five years to celebrate his incredible career. Each chapter of the accompanying book explains the themes of that year’s collection in detail and explores the fundamental aspects in the development of David’s career – including Influence of Oak, Secrets of the Stock Model and Expecting the Unexpected. Every year, a limited number of Chapter Sets will be produced consisting of one bottle from each cask bottled during the chosen period.

Chapter One was released in October 2015, and consists of The Balvenie 1968 Aged 46 years, 1978 Aged 37 years, 1985 Aged 30 Years, 1997 Aged 17 years, 2005 Aged 9 years. Chapter One is currently available through Dan Murphy’s for $57,000.
