Barzaari in Marrickville is about bring its eastern Mediterranean flavour to Sydney’s dining scene when it opens mid-July.
The venue is co-owned by chef Darryl Martin and Andrew Jordanou and takes inspiration from colourful bazaars from the spicy aroma of Cypriot coffee cooked in heated sand to a wood-fire oven and charcoal pit.
Chef Darryl Martin has worked at restaurants such as Quay, Foveaux and 3 Weeds and has traveled to surrounding Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries to bring the dining concept together. The menu revolves around share plates with dishes such as Koosah with haloumi in zucchini and tomato rice; swordfish in vine leaves with tashi and nuts; and quail with toum, smoked eggplant, pickled onion, pomegranate. For dessert, choose from a selection of sweets such as baklava with quince ice-cream.
Barzaari is located in close proximity to Enmore Theatre and will be open for dinner, pre-show dinner Tuesday to Saturday; and lunch on Friday and Sunday.
Barzaari is set to open on July 12, 2016.
