October usually means Good Food Month, an event that showcases some of the best local culinary talents. This year, GFM has been renamed Sydney International Food Festival, or SIFF for short, giving the program an international flavour.
The month-long series of events include Hats Off dinners, Let’s Do Lunch, the Night Noodle Markets, Hands-on cooking classes, Shoot the Chef, Cocktails and Drinks just to name a few. Looking at the official program, it promises to satisfy any discerning foodie’s tastes. Due to a long-awaited trip abroad, we will not be able to participate in this year’s culinary festival.
Just take a look at the clever advertising behind it with a series of food flags. We have visited 8 out of the 12 countries featured which makes it difficult to choose the one that appeals most.

This is absolutely lovely! I love the Korean, Brazilian and Greek flags!
Jen: The Korean flag is so well presented, it’s too good to eat!
These are absolutely fantastic. Each is so clever with using the food of the country. (But I guess that is the idea eh?) India, Lebanon and Korea are my choices, but it is really hard to choose. Not only do I like the looks of them all, I want to eat them all!
Dave and Deb: That’s clever use of the parsley in the Lebanese flag! They’d all make a great entrée. All they need is an accompanying local drink.
these are such a clever idea
who did the advertising?
good call on the blue cheese for france too [was wondering how you’d incorporate blue]
Bali Beach Bunny: Hi and welcome 🙂
If my sources are correct, I think the advertising agency is WHYBIN/TBWA, based in Sydney. I too liked le bleu, a term often used to refer to blue cheese. Very clever indeed!
so awesomely original. Now, I must go eat 🙂
Very creative, aren’t they 🙂
They all look so delicious it’s hard to decide but being a pig product fan I’d have to choose the Swiss one.
I thought you might! 🙂
