Sip Your Noir, the last of the Sip Your Style trilogy of events during Crave Sydney took place at a pop-up location at the Rocks in Sydney. Over 20 Pinot Noir wines from New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and New Zealand offered a diverse range of flavours and intensity.
The Moondarra Conception Pinot Noir 2010 was the standout wine of the evening with a concentration of fruit, cherry and berry being the most notable. The wine is on the lists at renowned restaurants such as Mr Wong, Aria, Quay and Hugo’s at Manly.
Other Pinot Noirs of note were the Polperro Landividdy Lane Mornington Peninsula 2010 which comes from a single vineyard and has ripe fruit, tannins and a little bit of sweetness, and the Villa Maria Cellar Selection Pinot Noir 2010, which is celebrating its 50th years of winemaking.
Other favourites on taste were the Brancott Estate Letter Series T Terraces 2011, the Akura Pinot Noir and Tintilla Estate Four Mary’s Pinot Noir 2010.
Sip Your Noir was held at 123 George Street in the Rocks and was co-presented by Sip Your Style and White Ink with previous events being Sip Your Modo and Fifty Shades of Gris.
Gourmantic attended the event on Friday 19 November 2012 as media guests.
Dear Corinne,
The pinots from Mornington Peninsula, Tassie and Central Otago are definitely some of the best ones around this region.
