It was red sombreros, fake ‘staches and a Sierra Fiesta as Margarita Madness took over Le’Cartel in Sydney’s Darlinghurst with bartenders competing in the quest for the best margarita with the most outrageous vessel to win prizes and the coveted golden sombrero.
There was a cactus-wrapped margarita complete with safety gloves, a Tom Selleck tiki mug, a moustached blender, a margarita from the barrel of a gun, and a spectacular flair show with fire by Robbie Stowe just to name a few.
Judges Justine Millsom, Club Suntory Ambassador and Merlin Jerebine from the Corner House judged the competition with Jimmy “Twinkles” Snelgrove (representing himself) winning first prize and being crowned with the golden sombrero. Cal Stoddart from Cafe Pacifico and Sheena Cullan from Goldfish won second and third prizes respectively with Charlotte Evans of Le’Cartel winning Best Newcomer.
