Eight of Australia’s top bartenders competed in the national final for the Havana Club Grand Prix National Final at La Bodeguita del Medio in Sydney.

The competition was held at the Cuban bar and restaurant on March 19 2012 with competing bartenders making two cocktails, a Mojito using Havana Club Añejo 3 Años and an original cocktail of their choice using Havana ClubAñejo 7 Años or the new Havana Club Selección de Maestros.
The 8 national finalists were Stuart Morrow from Hugo’s Bar Pizza, Oliver Drummond from Tokonoma, Martin Lange from Sling, Glenn Morgan from Canvas Club, James Connolly from The Sentinel, Chris Hysted from Black Pearl/The Attic, Sebastian Terkildsen from Five Bar Nick Selvadurai from Blue Diamond.
Ben Davidson, Pernod Ricard national spirits ambassador, Simon McGoram and James Carlin judged the competition.

Chris Hysted from Black Pearl/The Attic won the first prize that will see him representing Australia in the Global Havana Club Grand Prix in Cuba in June 2012. Congratulations also to second prize winner Ollie Drummond of Tokonoma and Stuart Morrow of Hugo’s Bar for winning third prize.
