Gazebo Mark II brings a different venue with a touch of 60’s class to Sydney’s east. Cosy dark leather booths, an imposing chandelier you can’t stop admiring, fixtures in dark wood, a sweeping bar and a grand piano give the Elizabeth Bay stalwart a sophisticated vibe that appeals to the 30+ crowd. The outdoor area has its own bar and wears a new look. It’s modern, casual and vibrant, inviting afternoons of sipping and nibbling on bites from the kitchen’s wood-fired oven.

The cocktail list is kept concise and goes well with the lighter snack menu items. Chilcano de Pisco is available on tap ($13) is a light and refreshing mix of house-infused seasonal Campo de Encanto Pisco, lime, honey, ginger and soda, bitters, a drink you’re likely to order several on long hot summer nights. Santa Monica Mule ($13) is served in a copper tankard with a fruity mix of vodka, honey ginger syrup, passionfruit, lime and soda. Tommy’s Gazebo ($18) is the go-to drink, made with tequila, pomegranate, coconut nectar, siracha bitters and lime.

The wine list offers several options by the glass starting at $9 and features Keystone’s sommelier Sarah Limacher‘s Showcase Selection wines with tasting notes.

The food by head chef Jason Dean, (ex Pier and Gastro Park) brings dishes and plates to share with a focus on the wood-fired oven along with a selection of signature wood-fired Pizzettas. Try the buffalo mozzarella pizzetta with aged balsamic and wild rocket ($18) or the serrano jamón flatbread with blue cheese, pine nut and truffle honey ($18). Or for something more substantial, the spiced lamb pizzetta with butternut, roasted lettuce, black quinoa and parmesan hits the right spot ($27). Pizzettas come on a thin, crispy base almost biscuit-like that doesn’t weigh you down. But it’s not all flatbreads. A full menu offers mains such as duck breast with beetroot, smoked almond, salted honeycomb capped at the $30 mark.

The new Gazebo is all grown up. The venue offers the best of both worlds, al fresco drinks and bites in casual surrounds and more intimate dining in a sophisticated setting amidst the grand piano and chandelier.
