Festival of Nonna

You’ve read it right. The Festival of Nonna starts this week. Sandhurst Fine Foods has teamed up with Sydney celebrity chefs and their grandmas to host a two-week Festival of Nonna. Running from 17-27 November, the festival will host dinners along with workshops celebrating Italian heritage and flavours.

Held at Redfern’s 107 Projects, Celebrity chef Andrew Cibej, renowned for his work at Vini, Berta and 121BC will cook side-by-side with Nonna Cibej at a pop-up, rooftop garden restaurant. The idea is to enjoy food ‘just like Nonna used to make’ with modern flair.

There will be workshops with chefs Luca Ciano (of 2 Michelin-starred Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia in Milan), Massimo Mele (previously of La Scala on Jersey) and Sara Oteri (Series 7, MasterChef Australia), plus their Nonnas for interactive, hands-on demonstrations.

Stracciatella Semi Fredo with Fruitti del Basco

Tickets to the Festival of Nonna dinners are $50 and guests can enjoy a delicious and generously portioned five course meal, wine, prosecco and a bag of Italian goodies to take home. Tickets for workshops cost $30. For more information, visit festivalofnonna.com.
