You’ll find it located on the Corner of Kiaora Lane and Kiaora Road inside the new shopping complex. New concepts make the store different to predecessors with specialist precincts built around drink categories instead of mere aisles of products. Aesthetically pleasing, the eye is easily drawn to the areas of interest.
With the Double Bay clientele in mind, management has enlisted sought product experts and ensured a major education of the team using a combination of in-house and vendor training.
The Wine Precinct introduces in-store Vintec fridges and has integrated fine wines with everyday quaffing. Wines of the World, one of the fastest growing categories is offering good value wines. The Langton’s Bay displays all wines in the latest Langton’s Classification and the piece de resistance is the Penfolds Grange Vintec Collection with the full range of wines from 1951 to 2009 current vintage, valued at over $330,000. Catering for the local community, the precinct offers over 35 Kosher wines. Discovery Stations dispense wine for tastings and can keep them fresh for 3 to 4 weeks.
A dedicated Events Area caters for workshops, masterclass with television screen, with experts in store or vendor talking to customers about products.
At the Champagne Precinct, you’ll find a Vintec fridge with grands crus such as Bollinger, Krug, Dom Perignon and Armand de Brignac. There is a focus on grower champagne as well as popular brands ranging in size from piccolos to 12 litre Balthazars.
The Beer Precinct offers a large craft beer collection. You’ll find the ales laid out like wine, grouped by type such as Pilsner, Pale Ale and Porter.
The most impressive section of the new store is the Whisky Precinct with over 450 whiskies from Scotland, Australia, America, Ireland, Japan and India just to name a few. The section has been designed to grow in terms of range and displays the whiskies by type such as American Whiskey, Irish Whiskey, Blended Whisky and Whisky Education area.
A dedicated single malt section displays the whiskies by location such as Speyside & The Isles, Islay, Independent Bottlers and World Whiskies which include Lark Distillery, Sullivans Cove, Hellyers Road Distillery, Smiths and Starward as well as Hibiki and Hakushu Japanese whiskies just to name a few. You’ll find over 200 single malt whiskies, the most expensive being the Ardbeg 1974 Double Barrel ($20,000) which includes a trip to Scotland.
To celebrate the grand opening, the store is holding a series of customer in-store tasting experiences (wine, champagne, spirits, whisky, beer and non liquor) from Thursday 5 June to Sunday 8 June. In the whisky precinct, you can expect to taste the following drams with many of the ambassadors:
