Bar Troubadour Coming Soon to Manly

Bar Troubadour with an aperitivo focussed cocktail menu and wine list is set to open in the beachside suburb of Manly.

Craft beer brewers and Manly locals Kerrie Abba and Johnny Latta (Nomad Brewing Co.) have teamed with seasoned restaurateurs Angela Heracleous & Rod Walsh (The Herring Room, The Sardine Room, Momo) to bring to Manly a contemporary Euro-bar inspired by travels around the Mediterranean.

Award winning bartender Kate McGraw (ex. Lotus Dining Group, Dead Rabbit NYC) has developed an aperitivo focussed cocktail menu and wine list which focuses on on the principles of Italian drinking. “Think bitter and bubbly – with a touch of tiki to make it a little more beachside,” McGraw says.

Highlights of the list include the Brookvale Americano, a mix of Okar Amaro, grapefruit, Byrrh, Sweet Vermouth and capped with locally brewed beer, or The Dante, a martini-style tipple with olive oil washed Gin, Italian Vermouth, Fino Sherry, Pecorino Romano and tomato oil. The wine list is energetic and edgy with most bottles available by the glass. McGraw recommends the 2017 Lorraine Skin Contact Sauvignon Blanc, available by the glass for $14.

The beer selection will be a rotating selection of imported and domestic craft beers. The beer range, according to Latta, ‘aims is to present a diverse range of styles, from lagers to sours, so that we can satisfy all of our guests tastes.’ Nomad favourites such as the Salt & Pepper Gose – a refreshingly sour and quaffable sip – will be available on tap, and expect international heavyweights such as Stone IPA to rotate through seasonally.

Tapas style small plate complement the beverage offering with a focus on artisan products treated with care, sourced locally and produced sustainably. Heracleous has injected elements of her own Cyprian heritage into the menu such as Pickled Octopus Stifado, and Mushroom, Truffle & Grana Padano croquettes.

Bar Troubadour is set to open in mid-May.
