It never rains but it pours. Sydneysiders may be a bit miffed at all this wet weather but good times are to be had with new places to eat and drink and plenty happening in the suburbs as well.

Drake Eatery

Drake Eatery is the first restaurant of award winning Chef Ian Oakes (ex The Grand National, Paddington). Diners can either share plates, have a full meal or snack with the menu focused on seasonal and local produce. The idea is for a place where Ian would eat and with dishes like tea-smoked ocean trout and roast Thirlmere duck, you see why.

Raven’s Eye

Raven’s Eye has a pedigree from the gang at Neighbourhood and Henritta’s Supper Club. Fans of the Pacino/Depp film Donnie Brasco will recognise the name as the bar in the film. As such there is Italian food on the menu, a local and international wine selection and from this team, cocktails with a bang.

Barrio Cellar

Barrio Cellar is the new sibling of Barrio Chino and brings a menu that includes favourites and new dishes but all with that focus on authentic and quality Mexican street food. For those looking for a late night  bite, the kitchen will be serving until close at 3am. Of course, those margaritas enjoyed at from its sibling are available.

Garage Bar & Deli

Garage Bar & Deli brings the flair of Argentinian curing and flavouring to dishes from a  New York deli. The menu changes weekly to highlight the best meat. seafood and vegetable produce. Crooked Tailor

Crooked Tailor is the latest from the team that brought us Pocket Bar, Stitch and Button Bar to name a few. Located in the Hills district, the focus is on seasonal cocktail list and a strong feature on whisky. Sit at the bar or take up a booth and enjoy the drinks and the street food that goes with it.

JB & Sons

JB & Sons is a new small bar and burger joint from Paul Fraser and George McLean after they sold Hemingways. Named after a regular who loved bending ears, they are serving up tacos, nachos, burgers with a compact range of craft beers on tap and in the bottle as well as some of their favourite wines.

New Brittania

Not content with just Raven’s Eye, the soon to open New Brittania is the first pub from the Neighbourhood gang. Built in 1879, the heritage listed pub will soon reveal its secrets.

Romolo

Within the beautiful and historic Strand Arcade, Romolo is a trattoria that starts mid afternoon (3pm) with Italian inspired dishes. Breakfast starts the day with not only the usual but a few twists to pique the interest.

Lucio Pizzeria

Lucio Pizzeria, the home of traditional Neapolitan style Pizze, Antipasti & Desserts has opened in Zetland’s East Village. The favourites are all here and there is also a cheese bar celebrating Italian cheeses and cured meats are not forgotten. Sit inside or al fresco and enjoy with a selection of Italian wine and beers.

The Boathouse Shelley Beach

The crew from The Boathouse are serving up the main meals of the day in a relaxed atmosphere with the wonderful view over Shelley Beach. Dinner is table service with plenty of seafood, yes the famous Boathouse fish and chips are here,  on the menu and a drinks list to match.

Beccafico

Warm up winter with these Italian dishes at Beccafico with Polipi Alla Puttanesca, grilled octopus with potatoes puttenesca style or Buttata di Carne Al Coltello, knife died Wagyu beef, eshcollots, capers and parmigiona. then there is always the comfort of homemade ravioli with butter, sage and parmesan.
