Espresso di Manfredi: Chiaro & Audacia Coffee Blends

Stefano Manfredi and leading coffee roaster Wayne Archer have launched a family of new blends for Espresso di Manfredi that celebrate the essence of sprezzatura.

Joining the original blend, Classico, a fine, complex coffee with full body and a long lingering chocolaty finish are two distinct styles of coffee.

Chiaro (delicate) is a lightly roasted blend grown in Papua New Guinea. The coffee has a citrus base with honey on the nose, some chocolate and vanilla and top notes of orange peel, balanced with a cherry-like finish. Audacia (bold) has a rich tangy syrupy nature with rich, dried fruits. The blend has complex Sumatran and Indian Arabicas and a touch of Kenyan darkly roasted to cut through the milk.

Speaking at the VIP launch event held at Balla in The Star, Stefano Manfredi described sprezzatura as a “studied nonchalance”, a word used traditionally by Italians in the fashion industry to describe the effortless mastery of one’s own style – a concept that applies to the efforts in producing the new coffee blends.

The range comes in reimagined packaging that reflects Stefano’s connection with his Italian heritage. The black and white photograph of the two old men on the packaging are of his father, Luigi Manfredi, on the right and his friend, Sergio Ferrari on the left.

Guests had the opportunity to recreate their own version of the photograph in a photo booth as a memento of the occasion.

The launch was held on Tuesday 26 February, 2013 at Balla at the Star.
