GQ Men of the Year Awards 2012 with Chivas

The GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2012 were held at the Ivy Ballroom with Chris Hemsworth taking out the title of GQ Man of the Year.

The event’s naming rights partner, Chivas Regal honoured the cast of ‘Howzat!’ with the ‘Men of Chivalry’ Award presented by Australian actress Miranda Otto. The award recognises individuals who represent the strengths it takes to be true gentlemen and being there for their friends in the face of hardships.

A selection of Chivas cocktails were served throughout the evening, including the ‘Chivalry’, a crisp and refreshing cocktail with flavours of apple, lemon and elderflower complemented by the smooth taste of Chivas 12. The ‘Chivas Royalty’ followed, a cocktail with subtle flavours of orange and chocolate balanced by the soft, smooth notes of Chivas 12.

Two Chivas 18 ‘signature serves’ followed. The Apricot & Butterscotch flavours were complemented by the rich, luscious flavours of Chivas 18, served on the rocks with a dash of bitters. The Cherry & Dark Chocolate had deep flavours of cherry and bittersweet notes of dark chocolate with Chivas 18, also served on the rocks with a dash of bitters.

Ben Davidson of Pernod Ricard delivered a customary Scottish toast which  accompanied the final announcement of GQ’s ‘Man of the Year’ Awards with a rare serve of Chivas 25 year old, presented in a crystal glass with a single sphere of ice.

Fifteen awards were presented throughout the evening to celebrate the achievements of Australia’s leading gentlemen across film, music, sport, fashion, entertainment and cuisine. The GQ 2012 Men of the Year winners are:

GQ Band of the year – PNAU
GQ Creative Force of the year – Wayne Blair
GQ Social Force of the year – Matthew Mitcham

The after party was held at the Ivy Pool Room with three dedicated Chivas bars serving drinks well into the night.
