Shoot the Chef
Lisa Hudson, Fairfax General Manager with Kellie Robertson (R), winner of the student category

“Food is my religion” by Kellie Robertson was the student entry winner with Chef Peter Doyle and sommelier Claire Mariottini at Est. Restaurant in a tableau inspired by Caravaggio’s painting of ‘St Matthew and the Angel’.

Shoot the Chef
Pepe Saya

Our favourite entry – and we openly declare our bias due to our involvement with the photo shoot – is “Pepe Saya’s Butter” by Henryk Lobaczewski. The image was first shown exclusively on Gourmantic in an accompanying sassy article “Pepe Saya Butter: Taste Meets Fashion” before it graced the windows of Victor Churchill in Woollahra. The photo was shot at Bécasse and Gourmantic was part of the concept and day-long photo shoot. You can see behind the scenes photos and read “the making of” here.

Shoot the Chef
“A Dash of Paprika” by Remy Gerega with Chef Nelson Burgos

Another favourite is “A Dash of Paprika” by Remy Gerega depicting Chef Nelson Burgos of Foley Lane.

All finalist entries are exhibited on level 6 of Westfield Sydney from 4 October to 31 October 2012 as part of Crave Sydney. Entry to the exhibition is free.

Gourmantic attended the launch of Shoot the Chef exhibition on Wednesday 3rd October 2012 as media guests.
