Starting at 9.30 pm, the crowds had already gathered on the beach, along the length of the promenade and took vantage positions over picnic rugs to see the local fireworks display put on by Randwick City Council.

The 2010 fireworks rivalled previous years. Sparks of light and colour gradually increased in size and built up to a crescendo of cheers and applause as they almost covered half the beach.
