The Fire Water spectacle was a fitting end to the 2009 Vivid Sydney festival, with a stunning harbourside show and the Lighting of the Sails of the Opera House as a colourful backdrop.
On a mild winter evening, locals and tourists huddled around Campbell Cove in the historic Rocks area to watch the harbour come alive with sound and light.
The performance featured floating lanterns and a re-enactment of the convict ship, the Three Bees which rose from the dark waters and bursts into flames.
The show pays homage to the convicts and their descendants.
