From the moment you step inside long and narrow bar area, the ambience is classy and inviting. The fitout includes elegant dark timbers, mustard leather bar stools, copper hanging lights and an aged mirror in the dining area reflecting the length of the venue. York Trading & Co also offers outdoor seating on the footpath and in the lobby area at the back.

Owners Matthias Larcher and Gwen Tran have had the idea in mind for some time. The theme and offerings have been designed to be part of the art deco style of the building’s architecture which gives it a timeless and ageless character, Matthias Larcher explains. Natalie Ng, former Bar Manager at Mojo Record Bar has been consulting on the project, a concept that began in August 2012 with Larcher’s good friend and restaurateur, Mikee Collins.

Ryan Gardam, formerly of Café Sydney manages the bar which has a solid American focus. Cocktails are classics with a contemporary swing and old school drinks will be revamped into approachable styles. Beers and ciders are sourced from around the world particularly America. A solid wine list with about 10 to 15 whites and reds complements the food menu.
