The Balmain Hotel officially launched last night after an extensive make-over by The Balmain Pub Group, known for the Riverview Hotel in Birchgrove.
The Balmain Hotel
Occupying the corner of Mullens Road and Reynolds Street, the revamped look combines a vibrant south Pacific-theme in a casual pub setting with an eclectic mix of exposed brick, white walls painted with palm trees, Polynesian wall art and overhanging fringed lampshades with tropical motifs.
In keeping with the tiki theme, guests were greeted with colourful leis at the front bar before stepping downstairs to the “Bottoms Up” main bar area.
L-R: California Rolls, Empanadas, Prawn and Sesame Toast
Head Chef Brad Sloane, Winner of the 2012 NSW AHA Chef of the Year, prepared a taste of his fusion-style street food menu. The delicious canapés included Raw Salmon Tacos, Bonito, Bacon and Miso California Rolls and Beef Empanadas with Smoked Harissa Yoghurt.
Foxi Monoxide
Entertainment for the night included a tiki burlesque performance by Foxi Monoxide, followed by 2012 The Voice finalist: Ben Hazlewood, who played his new EP Loveless.
As well as two distinct bars, The Balmain Hotel has a spacious beer garden, a large deck with a retractable roof and colourful furniture, which makes it a delightful spot to enjoy casual meal and sip on a cold bevvy with friends.
