Taste Orange brought a taste of the country to the sea with the launch of Taste Orange Month at the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel.

Some of the best in food, wine and produce of the region was on taste with eight different stations showcasing their wines matched with canapés.
Printhie Wines w Chilled Pacific Oyster, Salmon Pearls, Swift Cuvee & Chive Vinaigrette
Top picks of the night were the Faisan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 and the Ross Hill Cabernet Franc 2010. From the produce, the highlights were the Venison Prosciutto from Mandangery Creek Venison and the selection of dips from Fresh Fodder particularly the smokey roe taramosalata and blue cheese and pistachio.

The launch event was in celebration of ‘Aussie Wine Month’ in May, with Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel bringing a piece of Orange wine region to the eastern suburbs with a range of Taste Orange activities.
Highland Heritage Estate; Smokey Roe Taramosalata
The Top Deck area of the hotel is hosting Orange Wines Masterclasses on Thursday 15 May and Thursday 29 May. These sessions will be led by the venue’s Sommelier with key winemakers and experts from the Orange wine region in attendance. A menu of canapés matched to the wines will be on offer by Executive Chef John Pye.
Faisan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon paired with Slow Cooked Sticky Lamb & Grilled Polenta
From the first weekend in May, a section of the Beach Club will be transformed into an Orange Pop Up Cellar Door on weekends guided by regional Orange winemakers. Every weekend will offer a different taste of the region.
Ross Hill Wines; Duck and Porcini Mille Feuille
Keep an eye out during the Festival for a special pop-up restaurant. Hatted chef, Shaun Arantz of Racine restaurant is hosting a seven course degustation lunch paired to a selection of Orange wines in collaboration with the hotel’s Executive Chef, John Pye. A selection of Arantz’s dishes will feature on the hotel’s winter menu.
Fresh Fodder Dips
The inaugural Taste Orange Food & Wine Festival will be held on Sunday 25th in Robertson Park at Watsons Bay with a host of activities. Twenty wineries will showcase their wines and local food stalls with local cheese, dips and antipasto will offer their fare.
Venison from Mandagery Creek
The Festival will provide entertainment for guests of all ages, be it bobbing with Orange’s famous apples or a chance win prizes.
Petits Fours from Racine Restaurant
During May, for every glass of wine purchased during Taste Orange at Watsons Bay, you will go into
the draw to win a luxurious getaway to Orange that includes three nights’ accommodation and
tickets to Orange Wine Week in October.
