A touch of Australiana has come to the Opera Bar at the Sydney Opera House this January for Summer at the House program. With a homely backyard setting, a classic hills-hoist hanging with tighty whities, picnic dining tables, native plants and greenery, the transformation represents a uniquely Australian culture along with a true-blue Aussie BBQ.

Sydney’s Backyard at Opera Bar pop-up is the place to munch on classic Aussie barbeque fare such as sausage on a roll ($8), prawns on skewers with romesco and aioli ($10) and corn on the cob topped with lime butter and parmesan ($5). A selection of Australiana backyard drinks includes James Squire’s 150 Lashes beer and cocktails made with Australian spirits featuring the Spiked Homemade Lemonade with West Winds Gin and the Backyard Cooler, with 666 Tasmanian Vodka, fresh watermelon and apple juice. You’ll also find a veggie patch, gigs by Modular and a chilled vibe with spectacular harbour views.
Sydney’s Backyard at Opera Bar is part of Summer at the House program which includes the other pop-up Garden Bar by the Corner House located further along at the Western Foyers, making the Sydney Opera House your backyard playground this January.
