The Coogee Bay Hotel is the third venue in NSW to house the copper beer tanks after the Newtown Hotel and Royal Oak in Double Bay.

Duotank Delivery System

The aim is to give consumers the same experience at venues in NSW as that at the brewery in Melbourne.

The beer is delivered in special chilled delivery tankers piped direct from the Carlton & United Brewery in Melbourne and transferred into the tanks by a state of the art Duotank System.

Beer Piped into Tanks

The system works on air pressure and the beer is piped at 3 degrees C into insulated tanks from a refrigerated truck. Delivery is via a 60m hose run by remote control, already primed with beer.

A disposable food grade in-liner or bladder is used for quality control. The tank is de-pressurised, a new bag is inserted, the hose is hooked up and the tanks are filled. It pumps approximately one litre per second, taking 4 minutes to fill a 500L capacity tank.

The tanks take up vertical space, and times less space with the ones show above being equivalent to 10 kegs.

The result of the process is a smoother style of beer that is more sessionable, can drink more of it. It’s fresh and lighter on palate as it is not overcarbonated, has head retention and good lacing at the side of glass.

The beer arriving at the Sydney venues is trucked up the Hume Highway direct from the brewery and we will continue to the same as we roll out in further venues across NSW.

Over the next 12 months, Carlton Draught fresh and unpasteurised will be available in more venues across Australia.
