Brown Brothers have earned a reputation for hosting creative events that bring people together to celebrate the enjoyment of the grape. Their latest, “Take a Chair, Share a Story” was no exception.
For one night, Milawa came to Sydney at Studio Neon in Waterloo for the launch of the new vintages under a redesigned label. The Brown Brothers 18 Eighty Nine range features an ornate chair on the label and each varietal tells a story.
With patriarch Ross Brown handing over to a new generation of Browns – sisters Katherine, Caroline and Emma – the new design is symbolic of the times the family had pulled up a chair to share a meal with wine and tell stories. 18 Eighty Nine is a tribute to the year the first bottle of wine was shared around their family table.
At the launch, guests sat under overhanging greenery and fairy lights, and shared two long tables with oddly matched chairs, a reflection of the theme of the evening. The Brown Sisters, Katherine, Caroline and Emma, shared their own stories and inspiration behind the latest Brown Brothers releases as wine was generously poured around the table.
For the occasion, Douglas Elder, Head Chef from the Brown Brothers Epicurean Centre prepared sumptuous dishes that were shared along with wine and conversations.
Douglas Elder has been with Brown Brothers for two and a half years and works closely with producers in the North-East. His menu was a taste of the region with charcuterie made in Wadonga, Myrtleford buttermilk ricotta crepes with smoked cauliflower puree, Nug Nug goat sausage rolls and a selection of Milawa cheeses just to name a few.
The new range is an invitation to carry the legacy of four generations of the Brown family into the home. Pull up a chair and share good times around the table with good food and Brown Brothers wines.
