Boutique Wines Awards 2015

The Boutique Wine Awards for 2015 were announced on Friday at a trophy lunch held at Doltone House in Pyrmont. New Zealand’s winemaker Frank Manifold of Mount Brown Estates in Waipara took out Wine of Show and Red Wine of Show Estate Grown and Produced for his Mount Brown Estates Grand Reserve Pinot Noir 2013.

White Wine of Show, the Max Lake Memorial Trophy was won for the second consecutive year by Western Australian Geograph Region winemaker Darryn Rigg for his 52stones Barrel Select Chardonnay 2014.

Since 1996, the Boutique Wine Awards give Australia and New Zealand’s very small wine companies the opportunity to gain recognition for the quality of their wines. The event also marked the 20th anniversary of the Boutique Wine Awards.

To be eligible to enter, wWine companies must produce less than 250 tonnes annually and be independently owned. Of the 1000 boutique entries, 90% were Australian and 10% came from New Zealand. The judges awarded 15 trophies, 43 Gold medals, 106 silver medals and 336 bronze medals.

Master of Ceremonies, Paul Meyer welcomed guests then a four course meal was served with all trophy wines to taste. Awards Chairman Huon Hooke announced and presented the trophies with CEO Judith Kennedy announcing the Wine of Show.
