Niji Double Bay Celebrates First Birthday

Niji Restaurant and Bar in Double Bay hosted a delicious party marking its first anniversary this week and not even the wettest of Sydney weather was going to dampen the occasion.

Head sushi chef, Daigo Kani and his team prepared a variety of delightful Japanese styled izakaya food offerings including Yakitori, Salmon Sushi, Sashimi, Crab (Spider) Roll, Salmon & Avocado Roll, Duck Skin Roll, Fig with Wagyu, Popcorn Prawns and Crispy Tuna.

House wines, beers, Japanese Sake along with two signature cocktails were served. Stone Cold Sour ($19) is a mixture of Choya Umeshu, apricot brandy, lemon, spiced syrup with an aloe vera foam and petit pommes which celebrates the stone fruit season. Man Nen Ko So – The Thousand Years Fragrance ($17) is a mix of fennel and chamomile infused vodka, grapefruit, lemon, salted with ginger and rosemary, inspired by the old Japanese saying, you will remember this triple for years to come.

An intimate, subtle and stylish space, Niji in Double Bay is the younger sibling of Niji Sushi Bar in Kingsford, which has a more casual and open ambience, complete with sushi train and a robata. Niji, which means rainbow, is brought to life through the colourful food and flavours of this natural wonder.
