The Eastern at Bondi Junction has been completely transformed with three new venues opening this week in addition to El Topo Mexican.
The Eastern
At the official launch, media, celebrities, VIPs and industry representatives were taken on a progressive food and drink tour of all three new venues.
The Publican
Located on the ground level, The Publican is a 1930s modernised space that pays homage to an era of travel with old suitcases at the rear of the bar, postage stamp tables and good old fashioned service and good times.
The Publican
The pub specialises in craft beer and cider, with some 100 strong list by the bottle and 12 on tap which will be on rotation. The kitchen serves a gourmet offering of jaffles from the Jaffle Bar such as slow-braised beef brisket and mushrooms.

Anatoli
Up on the first floor, Anatoli restaurant is an eye catching space with a sleek marble top bar, trompe l’oeil mural, a chequered 3D black and white floor and over 200 wines in the cellar.
Anatoli
The restaurant offers Greek-style dishes with Australian produce by Executive Chef Matt Fitzgerald who also manages all four kitchens of The Eastern.
Canapés on the launch night gave a preview of what to expect with goat’s cheese and spinach bites, pork belly terrine, deep fried whitebait, and mini scallops with pearled barley.

Chimmi’s Rum Cantina
Chimmi’s is where to party South American style with Salty Donkey cocktails, a 100 strong rum list, delicious empanadas and arepas.
Chimmi’s
The decor has a homely 1970s South American feel where patrons are made to feel at home, enjoy great cocktails, discover more about rum while listening to cool and upbeat tunes that transport you across the world.

El Topo Mexican
Since it launched in late 2012, El Topo (not part of the progressive party), has become a Bondi favourite and the go-to destination for authentic Oaxacan food and delicious cocktails.
El Topo Mexican
The bar has has some of the best tequila and mezcal collections and has been featured in Sydney’s Best Tequila Bars. Cocktails can be made with a choice of either spirit. The food always impresses from the quesadillas with Mexican truffle to the achiote spatchcock with green olives, almond and oregano.

The old Eastern is no more. From 1930s nostalgia with a twist, to modern Greek food and wines in a sparkling setting, a South American rum cantina, or a part of Mexico that evokes wanderlust, the Eastern has become an international destination for food and drink. Minus the passport and jetlag.
The Eastern launched on Tuesday 16 July, 2013.
