Battle of the Booze took place last night at theloft with Sarah Limacher and Jason Williams, Group Sommelier and Group Cocktail Manager of the Keystone Group pulling all punches.

Wine vs Cocktails
And it was going to get ugly.
Two teams battled it out with Jason Williams, Sean Baxter and Tim Philips hailing cocktails while Sarah Limacher, Nick Butler and Sydney Duckett put up a strong case for wine.
Cocktails were flamed. There was sabrage of Champagne Mumm.

Biblical references were made. Nitro cocktails were poured. Grange 2005 was served. Blue cocktails with umbrellas made an appearance. Pregnancy claims were made. Embarrassing photographs of both parties flashed on the screen. Even a Gourmantic photo was used to make a point!

Stuart Gregor of Liquid Ideas MC’ed the event in his inimitable style and voting was done by the clapometer with wild cheers leading the cocktail team to victory.

Now that was a battle worth fighting! Whether it was the wine or the cocktails, looks like everyone had lots of fun. I’m always admiring other people’s cocktails, but usually end up just asking for wine — a good wine.
It was a lot of fun from both sides who put up a good case. So many laughs but cocktails had to win it 😉
