Royal Caribbean’s flagship Voyager of the Seas has returned to her home port of Sydney after a US $80 million makeover and some new additions. Some firsts at sea are on show such as the FlowRider, Ice Skating Rink and internal rooms with Real Time Virtual Balconies.
Voyager of the Seas
New dining options include Izumi Japanese Cuisine with a feature on fresh sushi, Giovanni’s Table Italian trattoria for a more intimate evening and Royal Caribbean’s signature Chop’s Grille steakhouse.
With so much to do, we’ve selected the top 10 things to do on board the revitalised Voyager of the Seas.
1. Surf on the High Seas with Flowrider
FlowRider
If you are itching to try the waves , hit the FlowRider for some body boarding or grab a surf board and glide across the flow while hanging ten. If you have not used a board, instructors are at hand.
2. Glide on the Ice Skating Rink
Ice Skating Show
For those with a preference of winter sports, an ice skating rink is available for all guests. Spectacular ice shows are presented by ice skating champions on the first ever ice skating rink at sea.
3. Climb the Wall
Rock Wall
Forget about those daily mountains to climb and have some fun on this 12 metre rock wall with the spectacular ocean view, whether you be a beginner or a speed climber.
4. Play Mini Golf
Mini Golf
The water hazard is a bit larger than usual but this is Mini Golf so no need to be hitting long drives. Practice your putting with the ocean as your back drop.
5. Jog or Walk along the Jogging Track
Jogging Track
After all of the indulgence be it the never-ending buffet, the restaurants or the bars, it is time to hit the jogging track to make sure you can do it again. Or if you like to keep your daily routine going, what better way than with an ocean view.
6. Shop, Eat & Drink at Royal Promenade
Royal Promenade
Take a stroll through the Royal Promenade. With its four storey high ceiling, you will feel you are in a European arcade, do a little retail therapy and then enjoy an ale at the Pig and Whistle or a cocktail at R Bar before dining at Giovanni’s Table.
7. Watch an Outdoor Movie
Outdoor Movie Screen
What better way to enjoy the balmy nights at sea than by lazing on a lounge or in a pool and catching a movie on the giant outdoor screen under the stars. For those who like the action to come right at them, there is also a 3D theatre on board.
8. Admire the View from Your Real Time Virtual Balcony
Real Time Virtual Balcony
Feeling that you don’t want to get out of your cabin just yet? Watch the view from your Real Time Virtual Balcony that is streamed to your cabin via a live action camera from the bridge showing the view of the outside world. See our review of Voyager of the Seas Staterooms.
9. Catch a Show at La Scala Theatre
La Scala
In this city on the sea, entertainment is not forgotten with live shows at La Scala Theatre featuring Broadway style stage shows, musical headliners and contemporary dance. The theatre spans 5 storeys and seats 1350 guests.
10. Take a Punt at Casino Royale
Casino Royale
For those who like to take on the house, there is Casino Royale where you can roll the dice or see the cards dealt. No James Bond here, so don’t order a Vesper Martini.
