This week’s news round up of what’s new, what’s on and recent reviews.

Rupert & Ruby

Rupert & Ruby, a fusion team from Season One of Icon Park has been invited to take up residence at the Season Two Stanley St location. Headed up by Eli Challenger and Aaron Pearce from Fat Rupert’s in Bondi, the new dining space will open on August 25 and will reside at IconPark’s Stanley St location until the end of 2014. Dr Who Pop Up

The Doctor Who Pop-Up Shop has opened its doors on Thursday August 7 at World Square Shopping Centre. The store will have some limited edition merchandise as the show gears up for the new Doctor to materialise on our TV screens later this month.

White Rabbit Belgian Pale Ale

White Rabbit Brewery has released a new Belgian style Pale Ale, their first addition to the portfolio in three years. Using a classic Belgian yeast strain, the beer has a balance of delicate fruit esters and subtle spicy notes. The brew has a lot of aromatic hops combined with specialty malts to give it a punch while remaining easy to drink. The range now includes White Rabbit White Ale and White Rabbit Dark Ale.

Bar Publicity & Advertising Workshop

If you’re looking at promoting your bar, come along to Bar Week’s Bar Publicity & Advertising workshop on Tuesday the 30th of September from 2.45pm – 3.30pm at the loft. I will be on the panel discussing media and publicity. The day pass to a series of workshops costs $25. More information here.

FlowRider on Voyager of the Seas

Royal Caribbean International has announced that Voyager of the Seas will undergo a major makeover which will have a FlowRider on board where guests can surf, boogie board or wake board on the 12 metre long surf simulator.

Virtual Balconies will offer interior rooms with ocean views and real-time sights and sounds of the sea on an 80-inch, high definition screen framed to look like a real balcony. A 3D Movie Theatre will be installed as well as new digital signage to help guests find their way around the ship, bow-to-stern Wi-Fi service and flat panel televisions in every stateroom.

New Dining Options include fresh sushi at Izumi Japanese Cuisine, Royal Caribbean’s signature Chop’s Grille steakhouse, and Giovanni’s Table Italian trattoria. The Champagne Bar will be re-vamped into a retro-chic R Bar from the 1960s era with signature cocktails. After this transformation Voyager of the Seas’ first port of call in Australia will be on 30th November 2014 in Darwin.

Tasmania Unbottled

The Tasmania Unbottled 2014 roadshow will take place at DOCKSIDE, Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Harbour, on Monday 11 August. This year’s event will offer the opportunity to try a wide range of wine and cider, many of which are rarely seen outside Tasmania. Haverick Meats Saturday Store

It’s not a pop up but Haverick Meats have been opening their doors to the public on Saturday morning since 2011 offering their range of quality meats at wholesale prices. The company supplies major restaurants such as Mr Wong, Osteria Balla, Est, Alpha Restaurant, Chur Burger, Riley St Garage and Sokyo. 13-15 Green St, Banksmeadow, 8am to 2pm every Saturday.

City2Surf Recovery Rehydration Party at the Bucket List

Running in the City2Surf this weekend? City2Surf participants and spectators can cool down, enjoy some live music and relax at the Annual City2Surf Rehydration Party hosted by The Bucket List Bondi, Sejuiced & H2Coco from 2pm Sunday, August 10th 2014. Shop 1, Bondi Pavilion, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Bondi Beach.

The Annandale Hotel has relaunched with a new look and with chef John Rankin at the helm. Toby’s Estate in Chippendale has been revamped with a new menu and will soon open for dinner. The Wild Rover has its own Rover Brew RPA, a Rye Pale Ale made in collaboration with Batch Brewing. And don’t forget to check out Henrietta Supper Club in Darlinghurst for late night dining and imbibing.
