2014 Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Winners

The Electrolux Appetite for Excellence 2014 winners were announced on Monday 11 August in Melbourne.

Rekorderlig Pomegranate

Rekorderlig Cider has released a new flavour to celebrate summer. Rekorderlig Pomegranate is a delicious addition to the Rekorderlig family has been created specifically with the Australian palate in mind. Rekorderlig Pomegranate is a blend of crisp pear cider with pomegranate, has a summer fruit fragrance. Best served over ice with a wedge of lime for a fresh summer taste.

Haymans Sloe Gin at The Rook

The Rook hosted their monthly Juniper Society meeting, this time with Haymans Sloe Gin presented by Gee David of Southtrade.The Thorny Rose cocktail was served on arrival, a tasty mix of Haymans Sloe Gin, rose, Campari and vermouth. This was followed by a G&T with a difference, made with Haymans Sloe Gin, clove and hazelnut tonic.

Joy of Coffee at Sydney Airport

Sydney Airport is celebrating the Joy of Coffee during August showcasing specialty coffee drinks and treats at T1 and T2, and giving customers a chance to win a trip to the world’s coffee capital, Rome by uploading a photo of their perfect cup of coffee at Sydney Airport to the app on the airport’s Facebook page.

Specialty coffee drinks include Sparkling long black (Danks Street Depot – T1 and Caviar House & Prunier – T1), Affogato (Quikshots – T2, MoVida – T2, Rossini – T1, Gelateria – T1 and Bar Coluzzi – T1)Coconut mocha, (Toby’s Estate – T2) and Chai-cino (Viaggio – T1).

Solerno Blood Orange Cocktails

Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur is celebrating the Australian blood orange season which runs between August and October. Solerno is made exclusively on the island of Sicily, and is delicious to sip on ice, topped with Prosecco or in a Margarita. Produced by Master Distiller Lesley Gracie, also the creator of Hendrick’s Gin, Solerno is versatile as a base spirit (at 40% ABV) as well as a modifying sweetener. It goes well in modern interpretations of classic cocktails, original creations, and Italian inspired aperitivi.

The Unicorn and Easy Tiger Fresh New Nights

The Unicorn in Paddington and sister small bar, Easy Tiger, will be launching into spring with a number of new nights starting this Wednesday with Folklore, and moving onto Roller Dog Thursdays and brand spanking new club night, Cheval Noir, that will offer something for every reveller. Live music night, MEOW, will continue at Easy Tiger on Friday nights and on Saturdays, The Unicorn will remain the place to party into the weekend with DJs and a party that continues until 3am, no lockout.
