One of the ancient Greek gods of the wind Aeolus was honoured for blowing away three days of atrocious weather, turning it into a fine evening to celebrate the launch of Nissos Greek Craft Beer last week in Sydney, at Cyren Restaurant in Darling Harbour.
Nissos Greek Craft Beer
Nissos beer, silver winner of the Bohemian-Style Pilsener 2014, a European Beer Competition in Bavaria, Germany, originates from the Cyclades archipelagos of the Greek islands, and it pays homage to its artisan masters at the Cyclades Microbrewery, in the village of Vaya on the isle of Tinos.
Nissos Greek Craft Beer
The unpasteurised artisanal beer is a combination of specialty barley malts, aromatic hops and yeast of the highest quality and made by using a slow traditional and all-natural brewing and fermentation process, brewed and bottled in small quantities. It has a deep golden appearance with natural carbonation. The taste follows the nose with a hint of spicy herbal and subtle malt flavours. A well crafted beer, tasting really fresh and truly thirst-quenching.
Founder and Master Brewer Alexandros Kouris
The highlight of the evening was the official toast led by the Founder and Master Brewer Alexandros Kouris, during which pairs of plates were handed around to several groups of guests. At the conclusion of the speech, a very enthusiastic and traditional plate smashing commenced with the sounds of cheering and breaking crockery kefi, Greek for good spirits and fun.
Grilled Lamb and Chicken
At the launch, guest enjoyed an abundance of authentic Greek food such as the classic Spanakopita, grilled lamb and chicken, salt and pepper octopus, freshly shucked oysters just to name a few. And with its atmospheric outdoor lounge area, Cyren Restaurant was the perfect venue, to enjoy both the hospitality and food culture of Greece while enjoying the amazing views of Sydney’s skyline and Darling Harbour. Guests were entertained by non-stop music provided by top DJ, Leah Simmons.
Nissos is now available in Sydney and Melbourne with a future roll out of off-premises stores to occur over the next 12 months.
