One hundred and ten wines by the glass matched to an exquisite menu, that’s an enticing edge concept designed to please gourmands and oenophiles alike.
Les 110 de Taillevent
Les 110 de Taillevent is located along rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, across the road from the Caviste, or bottle shop of the same name and not too far from the famed 2 star Michelin Taillevent restaurant. From the elegant street, you can spot the Arc de Triomphe.
Elegant Interior
The ambience is elegant and chic as you would expect, and by 8pm the venue is at full capacity with another round of diners arriving at 10pm.
The Bar
The restaurant seats 60 persons and is split between the main dining room, more intimate rooms and the bar surrounded by 12 bar stools. The elegant interior design is by Pierre-Yves Rochon and focuses on warm tones, oak stained to mimic the colour of Bordeaux wine casks with dark green bottles stored vertically mirror those of the Caviste across the street.
Frieze
A frieze representing vineyard landscapes graces the walls in warm gold tones that sets the ambience and accentuates the popular wine regions of France.
Intimate Dining Area
The food focus is geared towards quality seasonal produce cooked simply and without elaborate intervention. 330 wines from France and abroad are available by the bottle. The name, Les 110 de Taillevent refers to the 110 wines available by the glass. An a la carte menu offers a choice of dishes, each paired with four wines at different price points, served in either 14 cl or 7 cl glasses, inviting diners to explore different varietals. A sidebar on the place mat invites diners to leave their own tasting notes.

Dining as guests*, we are offered the set menu at €44 which comprises a starter, main course and dessert with a bottle of wine.
Chateau Edmus Saint Emilion Grand Cru
The wine for the night was 2010 Chateau Edmus Saint Emilion Grand Cru, a blend of Cabernet franc, Merlot, a well-rounded drop with cherry notes and fine tannins.
Celeriac in Remoulade Dressing
The Celeriac in Remoulade Dressing, or Le Céleri Rémoulade is made with celeriac, green apples for texture, lamb’s lettuce, fanned with mussels and a hint of curry. The dish is well presented but unfortunately doesn’t deliver on flavour.
“Crispy Pig”
The other entrée, described as “Crispy Pig” or Croustillant de Pied de Cochon is a much more favourable option, presented with tarragon and Meaux mustard.
After the initial disappointment, the main course redeems itself with the best dish of the night. The Oxtail in Red Wine, or Le Parmentier de Queue de Boeuf is presented in shepherd’s pie style with a rich red wine sauce.
Oxtail in Red Wine
This is comfort food that takes a humble dish and elevates it to fine dining standards. The meat is rich, flavoursome and flaky, melting in the mouth. This is the dish that will bring you back.
Saint-Nectaire
An option of either cheese or dessert impresses with the best Saint-Nectaire washed rind cheese from the Auvergne region of France. Aged, soft and aromatic, the cheese is served at room temperature which heightens its nutty flavour and creamy texture.
Le Délice Café
The dessert option includes the moreish Coffee Delight or Le Délice Café, delivering a strong hit of caffeine for those in need of it.
Le menu, or the set menu is merely a teaser of the restaurant’s offerings and chef Emile Cotte’s capabilities. To fully enjoy Les 110 de Taillevent, it is best to choose from the tantailising a la carte menu with food and wine pairings. After all, when each dish is paired with a choice of four wines by the glass,the possibilities are exciting. Another time. La prochaine fois.
