Killer Wines, Retro Labels and Adult Slushies

Every so often a wine label or decorative packaging grabs your attention. Next time you’re replenishing supplies of your favourite wines, spirits and drinks you have discovered in your travels, keep an eye out for what whatever tipples your fancy. After all, an empty bottle at home is not only an excuse to shop for more, but a reminder of fun times had in good company.

During a recent venture into a liquor store, we discovered these cool products that made us stop and take note.

The Killer Pinot GrigioThe Killer 2007 Pinot Grigio

With a cheeky bare bottom and a pair of legs in fishnet stockings missing one black stiletto, this risqué wine label is sure to garner second looks on bottle shop shelves. The Killer wine label could easily be the cover of a murder novel depicting a femme fatale on the run, her missing stiletto lying in a pool of blood, or red wine, depending on your imagination.

The wine is made by Chaffey Bros Wine Company in South Australia with grapes sourced from the Veneto region in Italy. Note the matching fishnet stockings design on the bottle’s neck. Worth buying just for the bottle.

Maker's TableMaker’s Table

Made by Saltram Estates of the Barossa Valley, Maker’s Table wines wear a retro chic label reminiscent of the fading newspapers era. With cuttings depicting articles and stories on the winemakers, each varietal has a different label, none which would leave newspaper ink on your fingers.

These South Australian wines come in various varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon , Shiraz and Unwooded Chardonnay as shown in the photograph.

At under $10 a bottle, it’s worth collecting the entire range.

Urban ThirstUrban Thirst

They come in a bucket. Just add Vodka, it says on the side of one of the plastic tub. These adult slush mixes come in a variety of flavours, Margarita, Strawberry Daiquiri, Mojito and Apple Martini just to name a few.

The concept is simple. Just add the relevant spirit to the tub, mix and freeze, and you have your ready-made frozen cocktail.

May just be the thing for a girls’ night in or a summer-themed party.

All products were spotted at Dan Murphy’s liquor stores.
