Hugos Manly Deck

Hugos Manly launched their new Hugos Manly Deck, an event that was captured with class and style.

On a gorgeous sunny evening, the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Fort Denison provided the backdrop at the Man-O-War steps for the journey across the water on a luxury boat to ­Manly. The flow of bubbles on the Veuve Clicquot Champagne harbour cruise was accompanied by Sydney Rock Oysters, fig, goat cheese and prosciutto, and set the scene for the evening to come.

Hugos Manly Deck is an additional area on the western side of Manly Wharf, an extension to the Hugos Bar and Restaurant. The all-timbered floor space with wooden tables and cushioned benches, some with throw pillows, and three huge umbrellas, brings a unique alfresco dining and boardwalk ambience.

A delicious tasting menu was on offer for the sunset dinner and drinks. This included Hiramasa kingfish carpaccio with avocado, radish, black caviar and spicy citrus dressing; Yamba King Prawns butterfried and grilled with chilli and fresh lemon; Pan-fried ocean trout with pea puree, shaved asparagus, radish, eschallots and salmon roe; Avocado, cucumber and baby cos salad with eschallots and chardonnay dressing; Pizza with fresh figs, crispy pancetta, gorgonzola, tomato and basil; and Pizza with slow roasted pork belly with sweet and sour onions, radicchio and buffalo milk mozzarella.

The Tiramisu didn’t make it to the table due to scheduled departure time of the boat back to Man-O-War steps but that gives more reason to back. Veuve Clicquot champagne flowed all night.

With spanning waterfront views, the tranquil and pristine waters of Manly Cove, dining over the very edge of the wharf and watching the ferries come and go and stunning sunsets, Hugos Manly Deck is a feast for the senses. And your taste buds will not feel forgotten either.­
